Liposuction May Improve Appearance—But Not Health

Abstract

When body fat is lost through traditional means—diet and exercise—numerous health benefits result: reduced risk for heart disease, stroke, and diabetes among them. But when body fat is lost through liposuction—the surgical removal of fat tissue—the same benefits do not appear to be conferred.
