Yoga May Encourage Habits That Lead to Weight Control

Abstract

Most yoga sessions aren’t strenuous enough to meet the requirements for daily exercise or to burn off lots of calories, but yoga may still indirectly help prevent “middle-aged spread.” Most people gain about a pound a year between the ages of 45 and 55. But researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle found that regular yoga practitioners put on less weight in middle age.
