Abstract
Folate, a B vitamin found in foods such as leafy green vegetables and citrus fruit, may help keep your brain sharp as you age. Previous research has linked high blood levels of homocysteine—an amino acid also associated with heart disease and stroke—to cognitive decline, and folate has been shown to reduce homocysteine levels. But a new Tufts study also found benefits from folate beyond its impact on homocysteine.
