It’s a familiar problem: Following this or that diet program, you manage to lose those unwanted 10 pounds. Just months later, though, the scale and your favorite jeans tell you that those 10 pounds are back, maybe with an additional five more. Called “yo-yo dieting” or “weight cycling,” it’s a common frustration for dieters. With clear links between being obese or overweight and serious illness—including diabetes, stroke and heart disease—it’s also dangerous to your health.
